Cultural Festival is held in June. The students of Chikushi High School do various things for this festival. In each of their homeroom classes, they decide what to do: a game, a movie, a play, an information booth, etc. They spend weeks preparing, rehearsing and filming. The day of the festival is filled with students and visitors In the auditorium, there is a choir competition, student band performances and a performance from the school’s brass band.
On the school courtyard, they hold the “Kyokusui-no-en.” In this event, the students write and recite their own waka, Japanese poems. They also design and make their kimono costume from Japanese paper. A cup flows down the stream, he/she picks it up and then recites his/her waka. Then he/she returns the cup to the stream.
